Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Hire Emmie, an initiative of Techy Train Incubator Foundation ("we", "us", "our"), governing your use of the Hire Emmie platform at hireemmie.com.
By accessing our website, submitting a hiring brief, applying as a talent, or entering into any agreement facilitated by Hire Emmie, you agree to these Terms in full. These Terms apply to all users — employers, talent applicants, placed talents, and general visitors.
Our Services
Hire Emmie is a managed talent placement service. We connect global employers with verified African women remote professionals through a structured matching, vetting, and accountability process.
Our services include:
- Receiving and reviewing employer hiring briefs
- Vetting, assessing, and building profiles for talent applicants
- Matching employers with suitable verified candidates
- Facilitating introductions and interview coordination
- Issuing structured digital contracts for confirmed placements
- Providing post-placement check-in and accountability support
- Operating hireemmie.com as an informational and application platform
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of our services at any time with reasonable notice. We will not be liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of services.
Eligibility
To use Hire Emmie, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements
- Provide accurate, truthful, and complete information when registering or submitting forms
- Not be prohibited by applicable law from using our services
For talent applicants specifically, you must be a woman based in Africa with at least one verifiable digital skill relevant to the categories we offer placements in.
For employers, you must represent a legitimate business or organisation with genuine hiring needs and the intention and ability to pay the agreed compensation to any talent you hire through our platform.
Terms for Employers
By submitting a hiring brief or using our placement services as an employer, you agree to the following:
- You will provide accurate and complete information in your hiring brief, including the nature of the role, required skills, expected working hours, and compensation range.
- You will engage with shortlisted candidates in good faith and within a reasonable timeframe.
- You will not contact, attempt to contact, or engage with any talent introduced through Hire Emmie outside of our platform and process without our knowledge — this constitutes circumvention and is a breach of these Terms.
- You will pay the agreed placement fee to Hire Emmie upon successful hire as set out in our fee structure.
- You will pay the talent the agreed compensation on time and as documented in the placement contract.
- You will treat all talent introduced to you with professionalism, dignity, and fairness.
- You will not use personal data provided about talent applicants for any purpose other than the hiring process facilitated by Hire Emmie.
- You will participate in post-placement check-ins as agreed.
Terms for Talents
By applying to join the Hire Emmie talent pool or accepting a placement, you agree to the following:
- All information submitted in your application is truthful, accurate, and your own. Misrepresentation is grounds for immediate removal from the platform.
- You consent to Hire Emmie sharing your professional profile with relevant employers as part of the matching process.
- You will participate in the vetting process fully and honestly, including skills assessments and interviews.
- You will not contact employers introduced through Hire Emmie directly to negotiate outside the platform process without our knowledge.
- You will fulfil the commitments documented in your placement contract to the agreed standard.
- You will communicate proactively with both the employer and Hire Emmie if issues arise during a placement.
- You understand that Hire Emmie does not guarantee placement and that being vetted does not guarantee a job offer.
- You will not represent Hire Emmie in any official capacity without written authorisation.
Fees & Payment
Hire Emmie charges a one-time placement commission to employers upon successful hire. There are no upfront fees, no monthly retainers, and no charges until a hire is confirmed.

All fees are invoiced to the employer by Hire Emmie following placement confirmation. Payment is due within 14 calendar days of invoice. Late payments may attract a 5% monthly surcharge on the outstanding balance.
For project-based or part-time engagements, the placement fee is calculated based on the agreed total contract value for the first 12 months of engagement, or the total project value if shorter.
Refund Policy
We stand behind every placement.
That's why we have a replacement guarantee.
We don't simply take a fee and disappear. Our accountability infrastructure is built into every placement — and our refund policy reflects our confidence in the quality of our matching process.
Because Hire Emmie provides a service (matching, vetting, and placement facilitation) rather than a physical product, refunds are not issued as a default. However, we operate a fair and clearly defined policy that protects employers where our service falls short of its commitments.

How to Request a Refund or Replacement
Email us at hi@hireemmie.com with the subject line "Refund Request" or "Replacement Request". Include your employer name, the talent's name, and a brief description of the issue.
Our team will review the circumstances, speak with both parties if necessary, and determine whether the request falls within our refund or replacement policy.
If a replacement is approved, we begin sourcing immediately and aim to present new candidates within 72 hours. If a refund is approved, we process it within 14 business days to the original payment method.
We confirm the outcome in writing. For replacements, the same placement terms and guarantee window apply to the new placement.
Exclusions
The following situations are excluded from our refund policy:
- Placements ended because the employer's business circumstances changed (restructuring, budget cuts, company closure, change of mind)
- Placements ended because the employer changed the scope, requirements, or nature of the role after hire
- Employer failure to onboard the talent appropriately or provide the tools/access needed to do the job
- Disputes arising from unpaid compensation to the talent by the employer
- Requests submitted more than 30 days after the end of the placement (or 60 days for Team Build)
- Situations where the employer has already been provided with one free replacement for the same role
Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to use Hire Emmie for any of the following purposes:
- Submitting false, misleading, or fraudulent information in any form or communication
- Circumventing our placement process to avoid paying placement fees
- Harassing, discriminating against, or treating any talent or employer with disrespect
- Using talent contact details obtained through our platform for purposes unrelated to hiring
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any part of our systems or data
- Posting or transmitting harmful, offensive, or unlawful content through our platform
- Using our platform for recruitment on behalf of another organisation without disclosure
- Violating any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate termination of your access to Hire Emmie services, and we reserve the right to pursue legal remedies where appropriate.
Intellectual Property
All content on hireemmie.com — including text, design, graphics, logos, the Hire Emmie brand name, and any proprietary processes — is owned by Techy Train Incubator Foundation and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content on our platform without our written permission.
By submitting information to our platform (application forms, hiring briefs, etc.), you grant Hire Emmie a limited, non-exclusive licence to use that information solely for the purpose of providing our services to you.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hire Emmie and Techy Train Incubator Foundation shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our services
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities arising from a failed or disputed placement
- Actions or omissions of any employer or talent involved in a placement facilitated by us
- Any breach of contract between an employer and a placed talent
- Interruption or unavailability of our website or services
Our total liability to you in connection with any single claim shall not exceed the placement fee paid for the specific placement to which the claim relates.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Hire Emmie at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to:
- Breach of these Terms
- Providing false or misleading information
- Non-payment of invoiced fees
- Circumvention of our placement process
- Conduct deemed harmful to our talents, platform, or reputation
You may also terminate your relationship with Hire Emmie at any time by contacting us in writing. Termination does not relieve you of any outstanding payment obligations or liability for breaches that occurred prior to termination.
Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall first be subject to good-faith negotiation between the parties.
If a dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within 30 days, both parties agree to submit to mediation before pursuing litigation. The place of mediation shall be Lagos, Nigeria, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive or other interim relief from a court of competent jurisdiction.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

These Terms were last updated in January 2025. We reserve the right to update them at any time with reasonable notice via our website. Continued use of our platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
